So my husband and I saw Ken Jeong’s comedy show in Stockton last night. We saw Kevin Hart last year and Fluffy the year before that. Ken Jeong’s show happened to pop up in my Inbox so we gave him a chance.
He’s pretty hilarious. If you don’t know who he is, he’s in all the Hangover movies and the latest movie, Crazy Rich Asians. Last night his show was pretty much the same thing as his Netflix special except the audience kept heckling him so much that it turned impromptu. Toward the end he let the audience ask him medically related questions, which he responded in a roast.
I was surprised to see a diverse crowd thinking I’d mostly see Asians, but I was wrong. It was a mixed crowd of hecklers. The venue itself is beautiful though, which so happens to be listed on the National Register of Historical Places. Just look at the picture below, drop dead gorgeous.
I am so glad to be seeing Asian Americans doing comedy. We only have a few famous ones out there – to name a few there’s Ali Wong, Jo Koy, Hasan Minaj, and Aziz Ansari. Thank goodness for Netflix or else we wouldn’t know of these great comedians!
